Day at the HMH ER... Again.

Today I spent the day at Huntington Memorial Hospital.
At about 8pm my stomach started to hurt and I couldn't avoid the magical room for more then 2 mins. By 9pm the pain had become so bad I was crying. I couldn't sleep, sit, stand or lay down everything hurt. I called my doctor and he said to take some pain killers and ride it out till morning. By 11pm I was in so much pain that I was certain I didn't have something like a bladder infection. The pain had spread to my back so I just sat around in agony trying to ignore it and wait for morning. 4am and the pain is now so bad I'm groaning with every breath and so I call my doctor again. He wants me to go to the ER "Right now" because I need tests done and fast. Did my appendix burst? Kidneys failing? Another cyst burst? I really had no idea but by now all I could think about was getting there and getting an IV with pain killers that would actually do something.
When we arrived the waiting room was empty which was a welcome thing since it meant there were not that many people there to wait for. I filled out the papers and sat and waited to be taken back. The vampire came to collect my blood for some blood work and put me back out in the waiting room. She managed to get her sample with one simple stick, something that rarely happens with me. It was not that much longer before I was moved into a room.
Once I was in my room I started to relax a bit. The pain had begun to subside for a short time and soon I had the IV with fluids and pain killers in to make the ride even less painful. They decided to do a CT scan on my belly to see what happened to me. Before I could do that I had to drink the contrast dye. This stuff is nasty! It looks like water and smells like water but it is most certainly not water. After about one glass I got another pain attack. I was alone in the room because mom had gone to another room for a moment. I had no call button so I sat in my bed saying as loud as I could manage "Someone help me" eventually my mom came back and went and got the nurse who quickly gave me a IV shot of a pain killer I can't spell at the moment. (I will update with the name later) This was the most amazing thing ever. I'm allergic to morphine and its in the morphine family so it had a similar effect but it only lasted about 5 seconds then all my pain was gone but a tiny ache in my back. This includes my headache and anyone who reads this or knows me knows how crippling my headaches are. If this medication came in a form I could use at home I may actually feel human again.
The CT test only took a few mins once I finished they dye they took me down the hall and quickly did the scan. I spent the next 3 hours waiting for the results of the scan. I have no problems with waiting but I was in desperate need of help a couple of times and there was simply no one around. There had been a trauma case which took up all the them. (I have no problem with that either) I wasn't going to die right away just in a lot of pain.) The doctor finally came in and gave me the results. "Looks like you passed a kidney stone. We will give you medication to control the pain and send you on home follow up with your doctor in 2-4 days."  The nurse came in and gave me another shot of the pain killer and after 30 mins took the IV line out and sent me on my way.
It was a special day for mom her friend died recently and the group of friends who knew him were meeting. I felt okay having had that pain killer so I said I would go with her. It was nice to meet her friends and it seemed like everyone already knew me. I guess mom writes as much about me as I thought she did. Everyone was worried because I looked sick. I honestly was feeling pretty dizzy by this point and just wanted something decent to eat. We headed off to get food after we were done there. One stop first I had to pick up some shampoo because I ran out. I took one step out of the car and was instantly sick so a total mess mom brought me home.
I'm in a lot of pain tonight and food cant decide if it's friend or foe. I will do my best to update this with how I'm doing tomorrow. I just hope I really did have a kidney stone and it's done and over with. Last time I was in the ER with this pain they said it was a kidney stone and it was a ruptured ovary cyst. If that keeps happening the Doctor wants to remove my female organs so that I don't rupture one and bleed to death. I'm really really wishing it is only a kidney stone.
Thanks again for reading. If you have any questions please leave me a comment.
